The Chop

So I have decided to get a fringe and my hairdresser is coming tomorrow so wish me luck!

Today was ok - woke up, watched Veronica Mars, showered, had a fight with sister, did homework, had lunch, went to college. English Language I just spent laughing with and generally distracting Kirsty from her work... One of our English teachers is a complete PATRONISING IDIOT, so don't worry Kirsty! I gave out lots of 'mini cupcakes' because my mum is still practising and we have all eaten too many so I needed to give them to some people haha. A lot of classmates are really surprised when I say:
"Does anyone want a cupcake?"

[one of my mum's cupcakes - delicious!]

Which just goes to show that generosity isn't common anymore...

By the way, is anyone excited for Halloween? I kind of love it. Last year I invited all my new college friends to a mini party and convinced them all that at the end of my living room there was a guy hiding behind my sofa, under the table-tennis table. They believed (mostly because I turned the lights off and said: "It's ok, they're a bit scared - don't come out yet) and it was hilarious. I must be good liar... Here are some photos from last year:

I'm not sure what we're doing this year - maybe going up London? I also want to watch some kind of horror film [I would LOVE to see Nightmare on Elmstreet, for the two simple reasons that it looks good; and it stars Kyle Gallner :p]. It's unfortunate that both Sophie and Ambra will be working :(.

But on to the important stuff: the costume. Last year I was an Evil Widow, the year before a Cat but this year I will [hopefully] be... Cleopatra. If we're going up London we'll be in our coats, so the costume will be simple: decorate just your head. I have my A Level Literature class to thank for my Halloween inspiration - we're currently studying Antony & Cleopatra by Shakespeare.

What are you going as this year?

OUCH

Just another Manic Monday, I wish it was a Sunday...

For some very strange reason when Kirsty and I were queuing up for our Cervical-Cancer-Vaccination-Needle-Scary-Hurt-Thing we got very hyper. I think the nerves turned into Adrenalin which kind of made us cackle hysterically at absolutely nothing as we waited to get a needle stabbed into our arm. One of the girls in front of us was crying, the rest were pretty silent.

When it got to my turn I was quite ok except for the fact that in the chair next to me (shielded by what looked like a blue cardboard wall) was a girl crying heavily and generally hyperventilating, all of which I could hear. Suddenly the -very young I might add- woman said: "Ok.. Now it's over". It literally stung for like 2 seconds and I was like: "Woop that's it!". Then I marched to the chairs like the brave little soldier that I am.

It has ached all day, but apart from that, it was fine. Just another two to go! Yay.

So to anyone who is getting it done soon -or any other injection- it's absolutely fine. Also, you get sympathy from people (ie got home and was given a cupcake mix bowl to lick) which is always good when you haven't really done anything.

Also, feel free to sharply pinch any male form in the area for being the gender that doesn't have to go through as much pain as us sturdy ladies.

Girl Power!

[too gay...?]

A little bit stressed

After three weeks of going back to college, suddenly all the work is piling up. I'm reading three books, doing 'mini-essays' here, there and everywhere; and 10 page pieces of coursework's deadlines are only in two days!

I need to calm it, Kermit. I feel a bit all over the place: I still feel really ill and not quite right. I'm blundering through all my lessons and just about sticking to homework due dates. I just feel so tired. Gawd almighty - it must be winter!

I'm just looking forward to the weekend. To relax. I'm only 17 and seem to have a very hectic life. [Which is, by the way, not what my sister thinks: "Wait til you get in the REAL world, Madison..."] But talking of Brooke, yesterday my 21 year old sister came home from work and stated that she already had my christmas present. She said it was expensive and I would love it. I instantly asked:
"Tickets to America?"
To which that got a snort, rolling of eyes and a statement of: "Not that expensive!"
Well, a girl can keep on dreaming...

So, the next big thing: Halloween!! What's everyone got planned? My friend Dawn has a second home near the sea front, so we're hoping that we'll be able to have a spooky sleepover round there. All she needs is the permission of her Minister Halloween-hating mother. Hmm.

PS, don't forgot to enter this week's competition!! See the post below ;)

Currently-

I am a little annoyed with college.

Ok, by a little I mean a lot. I have four different classes in my week and out of all of them I am only enjoying one of them. One of the classes I have had no help in and been left to do NOTHING; another there is too many idiots and not enough villages; and the last one is a little bit pointless.

Also, found out cannot afford to go on holiday with my friends next year :(.

But with all this, at least:
- I love one of my lessons
- I have quite a good time table layout [meaning I don't have to go in til 12 on 3 out of 5 days...]
- I have hilarious friends that break up the day by being generally funny at lunch
- We are planning to go Glastonbury next year
- I think I am finally sorting my future out.

So I encourage you to look at that glass of water in your hand and see it as half full and not half empty.

Plus, if you really wanna be cheered up enter my competition to wear a pair of wayfarer sunglasses. Go to the previous post and comment before Saturday.

Happy Tuesday people.

Oddest Thing Of the Week...

The David Bowie Night Light!!

This is just a little bit awesome. If only this was around when I was younger :(. I seem to have neglected my love of Bowie in favour of The Beatles at the moment, so this is for the continued appreciation of his magical music - I haven't forgot you Bowie!

[by the way I'm sorry I haven't been blogging as much - college just sweeps you up and makes any time for being creative disappear! Next week I'll be back properly, as I get used to my timetable...]

I've had a

fantastic past two days :)

Yesterday was Debra and Ambra's joint birthday party at TGIF's in London. It was SUCH a hilarious night (me and Kirsty got a teensy bit hyper). It was such a good night (anyone remember Mexicanwave-powerpunch-mime-vogue it!) I couldn't stop laughing!

And then today was our results day for AS Levels (half an A level - so our overall mark isn't til next year).. I'm pretty happy with my results:
Media = A
English Language = B
Sociology (urgh) = B
and English Literature = C (i'm kinda disappointed in this... I was predicted an A and this is the subject I put most work into :( I also really enjoy it so TONGUES OUT TO THE SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT - am taking this next year :) even if I did get a better result in Sociology). All my friends did exceptionally well - very proud of them all :)

After the pressure of waiting for our results we went to the cutest lil park ever and had a picnic. It was so cute and delicious (salmon sandwiches, mum's cupcakes, chocolate from Kirsty, muffins from Dawn, cookies from Debra. Anyone say yum?)

Oh, and as you know, my mum is becoming quite the business woman with her cake business. So I have designed her lil business card:

[and she got two orders tonight alone! Currently she is working on a wrestling cake and an Alice in Wonderland cake.]

Sunshine, Lollypops and- and, well Poetry.

I got an email today from the college stating: "Well done! You're in the Top 10 for the poetry competition. The winner will be decided next Monday on not only the poetry but also the performance." AAAH! Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty proud that out of the whole college students that entered the competition I'm in the top 10. But I have to admit - I'm scared.

I've no problem with talking with a small group of people.. but in front of an audience I develop a stutter, splutter and a generally red complexion. However, I shall take the challenge by the horns [correct phrase..?] and do it. DO IT! [haha Kirsty - where did this come from??]

I have a meeting tomorrow with two teachers and the competition [ggrrr mean face, mean face]. This unfortunately means that I miss out on going to the Harry Potter Premiere with Kirsty who is Rupert Grint CRAAAAAAAZY!!!

[Unfortunately I egged on this obsession by buying her the pillow. Sorry Rupert! :P]

But anyways back to poetry, I shall try to get the confidence of one of my many inspirational people: Clara Bow.

Blog Life Lesson Number 1

BLOG LIFE LESSON NUMBER ONE: All that schools, colleges etc care about are GRADES, not the pupils. Don't be fooled.

Cynical right? Hey - I didn't write this lightly. I've had a LOT of experiences to back it up. But, most recently, my worst.

I won't go into any gory details but let me make a formal statement:

As a COLLEGE student, I got promised to be treated as an adult. Generally in life there is the freedom of CHOICE. So if I choose to NOT do something anymore (and the college allows us to do this) I do not expect three teachers to have a go at me for a collective amount of 30minutes. And make me cry.

Yeah, I know - what a wimp. But generally I don't like confrontations, and it really upset me that these people were talking to me quite rudely. [I got called 'stubborn for the sake of being stubborn', was told that the 'mature' way to go about the situation was to not do what I was doing, that I would be 'letting the group down' and a hell of a lot more of the above. Things keep comign back to me now and I just get so angry. The person even went: "I can see you're getting upset but..." and continued. Thanks for that.].

So after these two people had a go ["I know it seems like we're ganging up on you but..."] I decided to go to the person who I'm supposed to be able to confide in and get help. He basically said: "Yeah I agree. It's a NO." I didn't cry this time, but hell did I get angry. I walked out ready to shout at anyone who did anything to aggravate me. I was so angry and frustrated. College obviously doesn't support it's students very well - I didn't get any advice, I was spoken to rudely, treated like a child and - finally - got THREE no's to signing a form that the COLLEGE HAD CREATED so I could this thing that I wanted to.

Sorry - had to vent out somewhere...

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to the only people I can rely on in college - my friends. Thank you to Kirsty, Debra and Dawn who were there with me and supported me.

George, Smint and Shortie ;)
