Desperately Seeking Costume

Photobucket

Has anyone seen Desperately Seeking Susan? I really love it - and only got introduced to the film when researching what outfit I could have for the 80's party I'm going to soon. I totally fell in love with the costume and decided to buy the DVD to get more inspiration. It's one of my favourite films now, just because Madonna is so great in it and it has a great storyline. The film made me want to be all carefree like Madonna's character Susan is, and the costumes are gorgeous :)

So anyways I decided to dress like her character for the party and have been trying to find bits and pieces for my outfit. Today I found a perfect white dress in a store that was closing down - only £8! I have everything off the above list now minus the leggings and beads which I'll get tomorrow [trust me - I have the 'tude. The outfit feels so great already, even if I am missing a few bits!] In two weeks I'll post photos of me in my full outfit, and Kirsty too - who is going as a FAME girl (very appropriate with the new film coming out).

Yesterday I went shopping avec Kirsty, and today I went shopping avec Lauren. My bank balance is soooo low - haven't stopped ebaying for the past three days! Lauren and I also went to see The Time Travellers Wife. I started to read the book a few weeks ago, but I decided to do something I have never done before: waited for the film to come out. It wasn't that the book wasn't good, it was. But for once the film looked exactly like the book. Anyway, now I'm engrossed with the fantastic book Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern. Love her books!! Oh, and by the way GO SEE THE FILM - the Time Travellors wife is a tear jerker but a must see (I managed to stay dry eyed because of the full commitment I had to my non-waterproof heavy eye make-up.)

Tomorrow it's off to see Evita.

I missed out from Shopping today because I had a really bad stomach ache :(

"I cannot go to school today,"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more--that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?

A long weekend :)

Yesterday was an incredibly long day, and so will this weekend be - just because I have so much packed into each day.

My mum was cooking all day, making homemade everything from cupcakes to sausage rolls (and it was all freaking delicious!) for when my dad's cousins came round. It was going to be a day full of eight ladies sitting in the sunshine (!) eating. It was so funny - especially when my mum got the hula hoops out and my dad's aunt had a go! Everyone also had a go on my mum's motorized horse. Please don't ask. It was sooo funny - just because they had never seen anything like it!

After they all went home (not before giving me a box of Rose :P), me and Brooke went to the big shopping centre which is half an hour away. It took us and hour and a half in the end, as there was so much traffic on the motorway. But it was the perfect day to be stuck in traffic, because the skies were an incredible blue and we were surrounded by impossibly yellow cornfields. Brooke was singing along like mad to the radio (radio 1 of course), and when we finally got moving she screamed "WOOO HOO!" out the window, and all these men in the van next shouted back haha. [there was also an incident where I ended up writing 'I want to take you to a gay bar' on a sheet of paper and putting it on the window... we were bored ok? And it's a pretty cool song!]

Brooke treated me to this really incredible Cameo ring [pictures later] from River Island and also to dinner - I had some pasta called :"Nice and cheesy" and omg it was delicious. When we sat down to eat we noticed this little toddler in a pushchair sucking on the corner of the table quite cheerfully whilst her parents ate their meal blissfully unaware of their daughter's antics. It was so cute!!

When we both got home we were immensely tired, but Brooke had to go and pick my parent's up from the Station, as they had gone to a Next modelling competition and were 5 metres away from Alesha Dixon. I instead had a hot chocolate in bed whilst watching a Lee Evans DVD.

Today I got up at the crack of dawn to walk around a junksale and bought Mathilda on DVD, I love that film!! I also bought a polkadot dress for a £1 which I might be wearing tonight... Because I'm going to see Take That the Musical tonight haha. Should be excellent :). AND THEN tomorrow I have my grandparents coming round. Geez I'm too busy!!.

Btw all the pictures shown are from my ebay, which you can check out here or you can just click on them!

Allo Allo?

[PLEASE PRESS PLAY AND THEN READ THE post - it will given this post a much needed french feel]

Oui, oui - J'adore le francais!!

OK, that just about exhausts my french speaking...(I got a B at GCSE - but that was a year ago).

Let's start from the beginning.

[you remember Ambra, right?]

Yesterday, I went to the cinema avec Ambra. It was great seeing her - it seems like aaaages since I've seen any of my mates. We saw Year One in the end and even though it was quite crap I had a really good time. We went shopping afterwards and Ambra forced me to buy things. Ok. That was unfair. Strictly speaking she didn't force me: more encouraged me, to which I obliged to quite cheerfully... So she bought this rather gorgeous purple and black bag that was £8 but at the till went down to £2!! Lucky moo. I bought this little black and white top that i LOVEEEEE, this black cinch belt and...

A BERET.

I know what you're thinking - girl, it's the middle of summer and you've just bought a woollen hat (I also hope you're thinking: girl, that looks good). I have two reasons for this purchase:
1. I am rebelling against the crap summer weather. Yeah! Take that clouds and general greyness.
2. Berets are cool. Full stop.

I suddenly feel like learning french properly, not just random phrases that the French probably only use when playing Pictionary. I want to be bilingual!! I think it must be sooo cool to be bilingual. Grr and now I fancy croissants (warm moist ones with dripping butter and homemade strawberry jam and- STOP STOP!! Must. Eat. Healthily.)

In other news I have just finished the book Johnny Be Good by Paige Toon, recommended to me by none other than Kirsty. It was really good, though I haven't read a book that finishes with a cliff hanger since primary school haha I give it 10/10 for general brilliance. WIll be getting the next book methinks. Omg and Kirsty actually got messaged on Facebook by Paige Toon. If you want to meet celebrities, befriend Kirsty: she has contacts coming out of her ears!! Seriously. It's incredible.

Anyhoo I have to get back to my eBay business to make up for all the money I spent yesterday.

Au revoir, mes amies.
